Nursery-Labor of Love: Part 8

Thanks for stopping in again to check out our blog :).  We are on a roll today trying to get caught up on our posts since we have the time.  If you are interested in becoming a follower of our blog you can do so by clicking the button on the right side of our page where it saying "join this site".  This will send you a message to your email alerting you we have a new post to check out.  This is nice for people who don't check their Facebook often to see our updates.

Anywho, lets get back to the project.  Michael and I have become huge fans of Pinterest as so many other people have.  We love to get on there and find inspiration from others.  There are so many great ideas but it can also be very distracting when we should be doing other things :).  Inspiration for one of the projects we did in the nursery came directly from Pinterest.

Many of us have heard the sweet song, 'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when sky's are gray'......(I sing as I type) LOL!  This is such a sweet song and was a song that many of our mom's sang to us when we were little.  We had one more wall in the nursery that we needed to find something for and incorporating the lyrics from this song felt right because not only is it sweet, but the song talks about sunshine and gray sky's which work perfectly with the color theme of our room.

I decided to paint parts of the lyrics on 3 different 14 X 18 inch canvas boards.   Below I have some picture of the progression of this project.

I started by using a stencil to lay out the words on the canvas board.

We used extra yellow and gray paint to from the room to paint the words.

Here is a look at the 3 canvas' after the first day of paint.

We were trying to come up with an idea to make the canvas' look framed without using a real frame so we came up with the idea to use a scrap piece of plywood we had in the garage, painting it yellow and attaching the sayings to the board.  Here is a look at how that came together.

We are happy with how the painted plywood backing made the sign come together. We also liked pulling a little more yellow into this side of the room.   It's fun to see how each little detail brings things together in the room.  Thanks again for stopping by everyone!
