New Closet

When we were looking at our house before we bought it we didn't like the empty room that was to be our closet.  I looked around at companies and store bought closet systems, and they were either cheaply made or way to expensive.  I knew I could make what I saw for cheaper.  If I had gobs of money I would have used better lumber and maybe a different species of wood(it is all pine).  I went to Menard's and picked for hours in the piles of lumber to try to find a straight board.  I used one by's.  Meaning all dimensional lumber one inch(3/4 actual thickness) by what ever length and width.  If you ever buy lumber remember it is not the measurements that it says it is.
To the right is a simple chart that will help you.

Now as many of you may already know Menard's is cheep for a reason.  There lumber is ok but not great.  It is good for small projects, but in larger projects were being square is important you may, depending on your budget want to buy from a reputable lumber yard.  I am not knocking Menards I love the store but it can be hard to find good straight lumber.

I am going to be making wooden shelf brackets to replace the whit ones.
Thought of staining the base boards still undecided.

This project may seem large and daunting, if you go into it with a plan it is not that hard.  Just take it step by step and try not to become overwhelmed.
